Blend & Treverkhome for a Cultural Centre - 1

Wood- and stone-effect stoneware — a mix of materials for the new Jasło cultural centre

The promotion of culture through art and the organisation of recreational and cultural events are the main functions of the Jasielski Dom Kultury, the cultural centre at Jasło in Poland, renewed and enlarged in 2015. Designed as a venue able to host all kinds of events dedicated to art, theatre and dance, the centre includes a recording studio, generously proportioned multimedia rooms, a library, and a theatre with seating capacity for up to 400.

The Jasielsky project was entrusted to the architectural practice łachanska & łachanska Architekci, who decided on tiling the entire structure with Marazzi porcelain stoneware tiles. The floors of the entrance, corridors, rest rooms and stairs are finished with stone-effect stoneware of the Blend collection, using Beige 30x120 in combination with Cream in 20x120 and 30x120 sizes. The characteristic veining and inclusions of the simulated material are reproduced in the surface, creating attractive graphic effects. As the name implies, Blend mixes different notions of materials and decorative techniques to create one of the first stratified stoneware products made by Marazzi.

To complement the stone effect, the designers selected wood-effect stoneware of the Treverkhome collection, using 20x120 pieces in Castagno finish, a warm and comfortable brown, for the walls of dressing rooms, the meeting hall and the library. Treverkhome is inspired by a rare variety of oak, planed by hand and treated with oil, highlighting the natural and random vein patterns of the original material
